Frown lines can vary in intensity, from mild to deeply etched creases that develop between the eyebrows, often acting as an unwelcome reminder of stress, aging, and habitual facial expressions. While these lines are a natural part of the aging process, advancements in non-surgical treatments provide a range of options aimed at enhancing their appearance.
Whether you’re looking for a subtle enhancement or a more pronounced transformation in your frown lines, it’s crucial to understand the treatment options available to make an informed decision about the best approach for you.
Dr Eddy Dona has been a specialist plastic surgeon since 2007, and is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons. From your first clinic visit, and throughout your surgical journey, Dr Dona and his team will be there to make it as smooth as possible.

Frown lines develop due to repetitive muscle contractions between the eyebrows, often exacerbated by factors such as stress and aging. Our treatment strategy utilizes specialized products that inhibit neurotransmitters, effectively reducing the contraction of the muscles around the eyes. This targeted approach significantly diminishes the appearance of the “eleven lines” that form between the brows.
It’s important to note that there may not be immediate improvement in static lines—those that are visible even when the face is at rest. However, with a series of non-surgical treatments, the skin has an opportunity to rest and heal, typically resulting in noticeable improvement in static lines over time.
Typically, following the initial few sessions, the results last approximately two to three months. With ongoing treatments, however, the effects can be prolonged as the treated muscles become retrained.
If you decide to stop the treatments, your muscles will gradually revert to their normal function, and your wrinkles will return to their original state; they will not worsen.
You can generally resume your normal activities shortly after your treatment. However, it’s advisable to avoid strenuous exercise and refrain from massaging the treated area for the first 24 hours to ensure optimal results.
All non-surgical procedures carry certain risks, and it’s crucial to understand these risks and any possible complications. While most patients do not encounter significant issues, it’s important to discuss any concerns with your physician to ensure you are well-informed.
Side effects may appear immediately or develop later. These can include:
Though exceedingly rare, some patients may experience effects that extend beyond the injection site, leading to symptoms such as:
These symptoms can manifest anywhere from hours to weeks after the injection, and they are more likely to occur in individuals receiving high doses or those with pre-existing conditions that increase susceptibility to these effects.
After treatment, you may experience several common side effects that typically resolve over time:
You might also experience a mild headache; if needed, paracetamol can be taken for relief.
You may begin to notice the effects of your treatment within two to four days, with full results taking up to 14 days to develop. Additional treatments may be necessary to achieve your desired outcomes.
