Bio-Stimulating Treatment Sydney

Bio-stimulating treatments are cosmetic procedures that utilise specific products to enhance collagen production within the skin. These treatments specifically target fibroblasts, which are the essential cells responsible for collagen regeneration, thereby helping to mitigate further collagen loss. By doing so, bio-stimulating treatments serve as powerful tools in combating the signs of facial ageing.

WHAT ARE BIO-STIMULATING TREATMENTS?

Bio-stimulating treatments aim to revitalise the skin by encouraging the body’s natural collagen production. Unlike volumising products that deliver instant results, these treatments provide a more gradual improvement over a span of weeks to months.

WHAT ARE BIO-STIMULATING TREATMENTS MADE UP OF?

We exclusively utilise bio-stimulating treatments that are approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). These treatments typically feature ingredients like poly-L-lactic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). However, due to recent updates to TGA guidelines, we cannot share the specific brand names of the products used in our clinic.

BENIFITS OF BIO-STIMULATING TREATMENTS

Bio-stimulating treatments aim to refresh and revitalise the skin by encouraging the production of collagen. Collagen plays a vital role in maintaining the skin’s structure, providing firmness and elasticity. With age, the body’s natural collagen production diminishes, resulting in the formation of wrinkles, sagging skin, and a loss of volume.

The advantages of bio-stimulating treatments for the skin are numerous:

  1. Enhanced Skin Texture: Increased collagen levels lead to a noticeable improvement in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and overall skin texture.
  2. Boosted Firmness and Elasticity: Collagen offers essential structural support, resulting in firmer and more elastic skin.
  3. Restoration of Volume: Bio-stimulating injections effectively address volume loss in areas such as the under-eye region, cheeks, temples, lower face, neck, décolletage, and other targeted areas of the body.
  4. Long-Lasting Results: Although immediate results may not be apparent, the effects of bio-stimulating injections are enduring, often lasting from one to two years.
  5. Natural-Looking Outcomes: These injections promote the body’s own collagen production, leading to rejuvenation that appears natural and harmonious.

In summary, bio-stimulating treatments are a highly regarded option for tackling the signs of ageing and enhancing the overall appearance of the skin.

WHO WOULD BE A SUITABLE CANDIDATE FOR BIO-STIMULATING TREATMENTS?

Bio-stimulating treatments are generally recommended for those noticing signs of ageing or seeking to enhance the overall appearance of their skin.

You may be an ideal candidate for bio-stimulating treatment if you experience one or more of the following:

  • Aging Skin: Presence of fine lines, wrinkles, and diminished firmness due to the natural ageing process.
  • Volume Loss: Reduction in volume in areas such as the under-eyes, cheeks, temples, and lower face.
  • Skin Texture Issues: Concerns about uneven skin texture, rough patches, or crepey skin.
  • Realistic Expectations: An understanding that results will develop gradually over several weeks to months.
  • Good Overall Health: Maintaining healthy skin and good internal health, which supports the treatment’s effectiveness.

DOES IT HURT?

When you arrive at our clinic, your Cosmetic Registered Nurse will first apply a topical anaesthetic to the areas being treated. For added comfort, we also offer nitrous oxide, commonly known as happy gas, if you feel it is necessary.

POTENTIAL RISKS

Every non-surgical treatment carries certain risks, and it’s crucial to be aware of these potential complications. While most patients do not experience adverse effects, it’s important to discuss any concerns with your healthcare provider to ensure you are fully informed and can make a knowledgeable choice regarding your procedure.

Common side effects may occur immediately or can develop later and may include, but are not limited to:

  • Bruising
  • Bleeding or haematoma
  • Inflammatory reactions, such as swelling and redness of the skin
  • Itchiness
  • Tenderness
  • Paraesthesia or numbness

Other less common adverse reactions may consist of:

  • Induration or formation of nodules
  • Skin discolouration
  • Insufficient filling effect
  • Infections, including abscesses, granulomas, or hypersensitivity reactions

Although extremely rare, serious complications associated with the intravascular injection of products have been documented. These can include temporary or permanent visual impairment, blindness, cerebral ischemia or haemorrhage leading to stroke, skin necrosis, and damage to surrounding tissues.

POST-PROCEDURE CARE

The following are common side effects you may experience after your treatment, and these should gradually improve over time:

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Injection marks
  • Asymmetry
  • Tenderness
  • Hardness
  • Tightness
  • Itching

To help prevent or reduce bruising following your treatment, consider these recommendations:

  • Apply a cold compress to the treatment area right after your procedure and continue for at least 15 minutes.
  • Regularly use cold packs during the first 24 to 48 hours, with a suggested cycle of 10 minutes on and 5 minutes off.
  • Elevate your head while sleeping for the first night.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hours, as it can raise blood pressure and worsen any developing bruising.
  • Steer clear of extreme heat for the first 24 hours or until any bruising has subsided.
  • You may use topical creams to help minimise bruising:
    • Apply arnica cream generously to the affected area 3-4 times a day until the bruising resolves.
    • Use vitamin K cream in the same manner to aid recovery.

Final Results
You can expect to see your final results within two to four weeks. Typically, a minimum of three treatments is recommended to achieve the desired outcome.
